Beyond Keywords:  The Future of E-Discovery

Keyword search has serious flaws, as the recent Victor Stanley case showed.  eDiscovery practitioners have long been forced to deal with waves of “false positive” and “false negative” documents in every legal proceeding – which makes document review less consistent, less accurate, slower and more costly.  But what alternatives are available to supplement or replace keyword search and address today’s issues with false positives and false negatives?  And are any of these technologies ready for prime-time?

Join Recommind and Fulbright & Jaworski for this candid, informative web seminar where we will discuss emerging technologies being used today by leading eDiscovery players.

Featured speakers:

Craig Carpenter, VP and General Counsel, Recommind

Mr. Carpenter has extensive experience in the eDiscovery, enterprise software and information security industries, and is a frequent speaker and panelist at industry events like ILTA, the Wall Street Technology Association, ISSA, ARMA, Interop, RSA Conference, KM for Legal, CompTIA, Inbox, and numerous other eDiscovery events.  Mr. Carpenter is also a leading advocate with key industry groups like the EDRM Project and the Sedona Conference.  Mr. Carpenter’s articles on key issues in information security, compliance, policy management, knowledge management and eDiscovery have been published in many top publications, including EDRM Quarterly, eDiscovery Advisor, ILTA Magazine, KM World, TODAY Magazine, Processor Magazine, and DM Review.   Additionally, Mr. Carpenter is an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco where he teaches graduate classes on content management, digital rights management (DRM) and high tech marketing.   Prior to Recommind, Mr. Carpenter was Senior Director of Corporate Marketing & Global Channels at Mirapoint, a leading messaging, information security and archiving vendor. Prior to Mirapoint, Mr. Carpenter was Senior Director, Field Marketing & Global Channels and acting General Counsel at Fortinet, helping to build the company from nothing to over $100M in annual revenue in less than 3 years, before which time Mr. Carpenter was Managing Partner of GrayStar Group, LLP, a legal consulting firm he co-founded.

Mr. Carpenter began his career as a corporate litigation attorney with Ropers, Majeski, et al.  Mr. Carpenter received his JD and MBA from Santa Clara University and his BA in history and political science from UCLA.
